Pro race

Fast. Atmospheric. Sustainable.

Although we have more of a reputation in the scene for being an atmospheric amateur marathon, you can definitely run fast in Cologne!

The course record for the men is a brisk 2:07:37. It was run in 2012, even though the leader at the time took a wrong turn 500 metres before the finish with a lead of around 10 seconds and only came second. In the same year, the women’s record was also set in a sporty 2:25:35 h.

So if you fancy a fast, atmospheric and sustainable run, Cologne is the place for you!

By the way: We’ve got the getting lost thing under control by now! Last year, we hosted the German Marathon Championships.

Would you like to be shouted at and be the centre of attention for 300,000 spectators! Then get in touch with Jurrie or Yannick.

We look forward to seeing you!

(Former) marathon ambassadors

“The Cologne Marathon has a very emotional meaning for me. I have lived in Cologne for two years and ran my very first half marathon here. And could directly win it. The atmosphere along the course and the finish at Cologne Cathedral have carried me over the course and made the Cologne Marathon to a unique event.”

Laura Hottenrott

“I am very pleased that Cologne organized the German Marathon Championships in 2023, as the marathon has been supporting young German road runners for many years.
It was certainly worthy national championships at a top organised event – and on a very fast course.
I ran the German U23 record for the half marathon distance here a few years ago!”

Hendrik Pfeiffer

Samuel Fitwi

Sabrina Mockenhaupt-Gregor

“The Cologne is an annual big family meet & greet and it feels like ‘coming home’! A very special feeling!”

Sabrina “Mocki” Mockenhaupt

Tobias Blum

“The Cologne Marathon is not just a run for me – it is an experience! The familial and incredible atmosphere along the course are unique in whole Germany! It is really motivating for a peak performance!”

Tobi Blum
