The Detroit Lions have been an official partner of the Generali Cologne Marathon since 2025.
Since entering the German market in 2024 as part of the NFL’s Global Markets Program, the Lions have been committed to growing the game of American football in Germany and inspiring more people to get active. Their presence within the city of Cologne such as sponsoring the Generali Cologne Marathon, running youth football camps in partnership with FC Köln, and hosting fan events helps bring the excitement of Lions football to new audiences and supports their mission to build long-term connections with fans in Germany.
The Detroit Lions are a professional American football team based in Detroit, Michigan, and compete in the National Football League (NFL) as part of the NFC North division. Established in 1934, the Lions boast a storied history and a passionate fan base that spans the globe. The team features wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who has German heritage, and most recently captured back-to-back NFC North division titles in 2023 and 2024 seasons.
