20,750 euros were donated by the participants of the RheinEnergieMarathon Cologne on October 1, 2017 for the “We for the local Cologne sport” (Wir für den Kölner Sport) charity campaign by running over the donation mat at kilometre 23.
On Monday, December 4, the donation cheques of 5,250 euros each were handed over to the three selected projects “mal bewegen”, “Grenzenloser Sportverein” and “Entgegen gelaufen” by the CEO of the Cologne marathon, Markus Frisch.
Due to requests of numerous runners additional 5,000 euros are donated for the bereaved of the participant who passed away during the half marathon.
The “We for the local Cologne sport” charity project will again be set up for the next edition of the RheinEnergieMarathon Cologne on October 7, 2018.
The idea of the campaign is the support of local, Cologne-based associations and organisations that engage socially.
Sport, and above all the volunteer structure behind it, is an important element for integration and inclusion and gives children and young people the pleasure of making sports.
